E
EDI (Electronic
Data Interchange)
The business-to-business interconnection of computers for
the rapid exchange of a wide variety of documents, from invoices
to payments.
Cole Hersee supports some EDI, with more extensive implementation
being planned.
ELECTROMECHANICAL
DEVICE
A mechanical device which is controlled by an electric device.
Solenoids and circuit breakers are examples. Much conventional
switching is electromechanical, although other methods, such
as optoelectronic and Hall Effect are being introduced by
pioneers in switching, like Cole Hersee.
EMF
Electromotive force or voltage (V). The gradient or 'push'
that is given to an electrical force. The higher the voltage
difference, the faster a current will travel.
