GEAR RATIO
Number, usually expressed as a decimal fraction, representing how many turns of the input shaft cause exactly one revolution of the output shaft. Applies to transmissions, power takeoffs, power dividers and rear axles. Example: If 2.5 revolutions of an input shaft cause one revolution of the output shaft, the gear ratio is 2.5:1.

GROUND
This term has different meanings in AC and DC.

AC Ground. In a typical simple cable, there are 3 wires. Positive, negative, and ground. The ground is literally connnected (at some point) to the ground. It provides a drain for the electrical power in the case of malfunction. It is a safety measure.

DC Ground. In vehicles there are normally only two wires, the positive and negative. With a metal chassis, one of these wires can be largely eliminated by routing the current through the chassis. The ground can be positive ground or negative ground. It's important to know which type your vehicle uses!
The advantage of this system is a reduction in the wiring complexity.

GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight)
Total weight of a vehicle and everything aboard, including its load.

GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating)
