WIPER
1. A windshield wiper. We make many windshield wiper switches, both electromechanical and electronic, for dynamic or non-dynamic systems, with or without push-to-wash.
2. A type of contact in a switch. It is typically a springy metal leaf that is used a) to make a solid electrical contact (as in a disconnect switch) or b) in a rotary or variable switch to wipe across a resistive coil to deliver a varied output: as in our rheostatic switches.
Wiper contacts have the advantage of being self-cleaning.
